I am a photographer, web designer, web devloper and graphic artist, (web and print as well as non-web digital design including (UI) user interface design). I am also a hardware and software troubleshooter and a nerd in general. I live with my wife, Tia, in the Midwest. And yeah, that is supposed to be me on the left. It is an artist's rendition of what I would look like if I was successful in life and actually did something worthy of appearing on The Simpsons.
I have been designing web sites for about 12 years now. I learned HTML from my first photography professor at UNL, George Tuck, who urged all his students to develop an online presence. He taught a class on typography, which was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken but also one of the most rewarding. I started learning HTML with Dreamweaver v.4, which was great back then but it seems so primitive now compared to CS5, which includes Dreamweaver v. 11.
Up until recently I was working for the Department of Food Science and Technology and The Food Processing Center at UNL doing web design and development as well as managing all of the Department's web and file servers (10!) and working on troubleshooting any and all types of computer problems on just about every operating system including many flavors of Linux (desktop and server) and of course all versions of Windows (some as old as Win 98!) all the way up to Windows Server 2003, Server 2008, Windows 7 and Apple Macintosh OSX. I also have experience working with most mobile systems doing setup with MS Exchange, Google, MobileMe, Goodmail as well as others on all the newest phones (Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile 6.1 and iPhone OS4). I have also created web design made specifically for phones and handheld PDAs. I am currently finishing two degrees, one in anthropology and one in photojournalism, and I plan to graduate in December 2010.
In the meantime I am a working photographer and graphic designer and I am available for travel. I have been published in the Daily Nebraskan newspaper, the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper and Pages Magazine as well as a few other publications. I have also received 3 awards from the NPPA (Nebraska Press Photographers Association) college photographer competition. One of these days I will post my resume.
